How we work

A visible route from question to handover.

Complex work becomes manageable when the decisions are explicit. The process is structured enough to protect quality, but flexible enough to fit research, software, and digital product projects.

Working method / 01—06

Six stages. One agreed line of reasoning.

Stage depth changes with the project, but the questions behind each stage remain.

  1. 01

    Discover

Define the decision, audience, starting materials, dependencies, and constraints. The goal is to understand the problem before proposing a tool.

  2. 02

    Scope

Turn the objective into agreed outputs, responsibilities, assumptions, milestones, review points, and exclusions.

  3. 03

    Design the route

Select an approach that fits the evidence, budget, timeline, maintenance needs, and level of uncertainty.

  4. 04

    Execute

Build or analyse in reviewable increments, keeping key decisions, inputs, and changes traceable.

  5. 05

    Validate

Test against the agreed acceptance criteria, inspect edge cases, and distinguish verified behaviour from interpretation.

  6. 06

    Deliver & hand over

Provide the finished outputs with the documentation, source materials, usage notes, and remaining limitations needed for responsible use.

Before work begins

Scope is a shared technical document.

It should state what will be delivered, in what format, and what evidence will count as complete.

It should also state what is not included, what must be supplied, and which unknowns could change the route.

Start correctly

A useful first message can be brief.

Describe the intended outcome, current starting point, and important constraints. Open questions can follow.
